FORT MADISON (WGEM) -- The first ever River and Rail Weekend wrapped up Sunday with the welcome of the American Melody Riverboat and food trucks on the Fort Madison riverfront.
Organizers of the event said the event drew in people who might of not traveled to Fort Madison before.
ScaleTrains president Shane Wilson said they manufacture and show scale model trains. He said his crew traveled from Tennessee to place his model trains on display at the event.
"We met folks here from as far away as Oregon and Ohio. Really just about every where from across the U.S. from Kansas and Missouri. You name it. It really draws folks in," Wilson said.
Wilson said the Fort Madison Virtual Railfan's train cameras is their most watched camera and gets over a million views every month.
He said based on the success of this weekend's event, they've discussed hosting another one next year.
