HANNIBAL (WGEM)-- Hannibal residents got a preview of what local marching bands from across the area have in store for the marching season Tuesday.

High school and college bands from around the area marched through downtown Hannibal for the 72nd annual Hannibal Band Day.

Twenty eight marching bands took part in the parade.

"This event, it brings everyone, every band in the district. It's the one place to show off everyone's music", said Landon Pagett, a baritone player with the Hannibal High School Marching Band.

"You know, seniors in high school are looking at colleges, obviously all the marching band members here that are hopefully looking at us to be like I want to go there, I want to be apart of that marching band. So, I think this is amazing. I loved doing this in high school and I love doing it now," said Maurice Silas, a drum major with the Culver Stockton Marching Band.

Many of the bands that were featured Tuesday are set to compete on Oct. 16th in Quincy at Octoberfest.
