Clark County school board reverses mask mandate

CLARK COUNTY, Mo. (WGEM) -- There's no more mask mandate for Clark County R-1 schools in Missouri.

Superintendent Dr. Ritchie Kracht said the school board voted Tuesday night to lift it for students in school, and on buses.

He said it was because of the now low COVID-19 case count both in the district, and in the community.

Going forward, Kracht said the district will continue to follow other mitigation measures like socially distancing in classrooms, and implementing a test-to-stay program.

He said they are still working on the details for that, and will notify parents of those protocols soon.

Kracht said the Clark County School Board put the mask mandate into place in the first place a week into the school year when 80 students had to quarantine.

He said it was all in an effort to keep as many kids in school as possible.
